Results don’t lie.

Mr. Duterte, our once-a-week president, talks big for someone who has never taken accountability for anything in his life. He brags about the supposedly corruption-free spending under the Bayanihan Law 1, yet tens of millions of our countrymen are still hungry and/or unemployed. Billions of pesos have been spent from our treasury but here we are, seven months into the quarantine, and we are still adding thousands of new COVID-19 cases per day. If he is truly accountable for his government, he should resign based simply on the results.

I find it funny, tragically funny, that Mr. Duterte is denying that he had people killed. It is and has been the central policy of his regime. He has asked our police and army time and again to kill people. And thousands have died from his orders and policies. These are deaths that could have been prevented had he instructed our police officers to follow the Rule of Law.

Never has there been any such explicit directive from Duterte to stop the killings. Now he is scrambling to avoid responsibility for the genocide committed under his watch. Justice beckons and he will be called to account for his actions.

Thousands of Filipinos died because of his misguided policies. Yet we are nowhere closer to solving the problem with drugs. Lives lost: tens of thousands. Net gains: zero.

Results don’t lie, Mr. Duterte does. Chronically… ###
