Iyan ang tunay na matapang! Tunay na nagmamahal sa bayan!

These are the descriptors than ran through my head when I heard of the brave stance taken by PO1 Vincent Tacorda, who tendered his resignation from the PNP because he can no longer stomach the explicit orders given to him and his fellow policemen to commit EJKs in order to assure their own continued employment under this bloody regime by adding to the body count of its so-called “War on Drugs”.

He was made to choose between life and livelihood—and he made the right choice.

I cannot be more proud and humbled by this sacrifice of a fellow Bicolano. He dared to call out the evil of lazy, unaccopuntable and false “governance”, and in so doing, he served the the Filipino people’s interest in Truth and Justice.

Though our nation remains blinded and imprisoned under the oppressive shroud of butchery masquerading as accomplishments, brutality pretending to be a badge of masculinity, and blatant impunity under the mask of decisiveness, the refusal of one police officer to be morally corrupted ensures that, one day, Truth and Justice will prevail.
