Opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima has expressed solidarity with the Muslims in celebrating Eid’l Fitr–which marks the culmination of the month-long fast during Ramadan– today, June 15.
De Lima said the meaningful occasion serves as a reminder and inspiration to the people here and abroad to always embody the virtue of faith to gain fortitude and optimism during trying times.
“Together with our Muslim brothers and sisters here and abroad, I am one with you in the celebration of Eid’l Fitr,” she said.
Note that the holy month of Ramadan is spent by Muslims by abstaining from eating food, drinking liquids, smoking, engaging in sexual relations, among others, from dawn until sunset.
De Lima said Muslims and non-Muslims alike are called upon to guide those who have lost their direction in life as they also extend assistance to those in need at all times.
“Nawa’y lagi nating isabuhay ang diwang nakapaloob sa Eid’l Fitr sa pagwawakas ng karahasan at pagtataguyod ng tunay at pangmatagalang kapayapaan sa ating bansa,” she said.
“May we always live with love, respect and compassion to each other as we strive to build a future that we want to leave behind for our children and the generations to come,” she added.
