Opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima has counted the cats inside her detention quarters in Camp Crame as among her constant source of joy and good vibes.
De Lima, an animal lover who owns dogs of different breeds and sizes and has stray cats inside her detention quarters, shared that her cats welcomed her upon her return from the Manila Doctors Hospital where she was confined for 24 hours from Feb. 11 to Feb. 12.
“What a delightful sight! In an almost perfect horizontal line formation, my cats (adopted stray cats) welcomed my return here at the detention quarters last Friday, Feb. 12, from my 24-hour medical furlough,” she said in her Dispatch from Crame No. 1032.
“All of them with a weary yet accusing stare, as if saying ‘where the hell have you been?’ They obviously missed me,” she added.
De Lima further shared that said she had to immediately feed the cats upon her arrival because “most of them had a famished appearance.”
“What a constant source of joy and good vibes!” she said.
De Lima underwent a routine general medical examination to ensure that every aspect of her health is well and to guarantee that she does not suffer any illness, especially so that she is already in her senior years.
She had several tests including CT-Scan, X-Ray, various Ultrasound, Mammogram, and Colonoscopy, among others. She immediately shared the results of her medical exams, saying that she remained in good health and high spirits, as she doesn’t suffer from any serious or alarming health condition.
De Lima, the most prominent political prisoner under the Duterte regime, was recently acquitted in one of her three drug cases. She will be marking her fourth year in unjust detention on Feb. 24. (30)
